Advancement

In the Island game and other similar games, I do not use a class or level system. Instead I allow characters to progress with specific awards granted to specific skills and abilities. KPs can be awarded as a character trains and practices a profession or craft. IPs can be granted as a reward for participation in battles and other experiences generally represented as experience towards a level in a class. I think this is more reasonable and simple when dealing with a low power game where you have several characters. It is my recommendation that characters simply be granted one IP in the appropriate place each time they find themselves in a challenging situation where that ability has served them well.
