The World of Karador

The World of Karador is one which I have created for use in my Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Campaign which I have run now for many years. Actually, I have not "created" it, but am "creating" it even yet. After all, a world is a big and complicated thing. The Primary reason I chose long ago to write my own world was because of the evident lack of any published campaign settings which did an earnest job. It appears to me that so many campaign worlds that are published are 10 pages of background information, and 60 pages of new monsters, spells and magic items. One notable exception that I really must comment on is The AD&D forgotten Realms, especially after the publication of the Volo's Guides. I am very impressed with the work put forth into this now rather well defined world. My problem with it is simple. First.. Too much magic. Secondly, it's an AD&D game world, not a well developed game world to play AD&D in. My want was for a world that would be useful with any system, and not be too messy or dependent with the AD&D rules so incorporated.

What is Karador?

Karador is a world that is made very much of original background material that is well defined, developed, thought out and detailed. When I set about writing information on the Karador, I immediately began with some basic thoughts about the world. How big the world actually was, What the Calendar was like, about the moon and other celestial bodies that surround it. what are the races, and where did they come from. What are the Gods, and why does magic work. Having worked out the BIG things like that helped alot.. I also spent a lot of time and effort working on the small things that so often are over shadowed like the contents of little towns. It was an attempt to make all the places real like they should be, and not simply a large number of building which have an inn, weaponshop, and general store.

Many portions of pages for the world of Karador will be written in black, and will be very difficult to read with the background as it is. This is done because the material in that type of text if for the eyes of Game Masters only, and for those simply reading my page for entertainment. Those playing in a game based upon my world should NOT read this text. Black hidden text will always be contained within visible ( ) marks. Revealing hidden text is as simple as highlighting as you would highlight text to cut and paste. Some sections have their description text written in this color. These entire pages are off limits to players just as hidden text is.

Currently my work on Karador is focusing on only one continent known as Caprial to most, but as New Tzmyth to it's inhabitants.
