Training Animals Many archeologists and anthropologists believe that the domestication and training of animals to have been one of man's earliest technological revolutions. Throughout time, Animals have been domesticated, bread and trained to fill vital rolls in human civilization. Such fundamental endeavors of the human experience as hunting, agriculture, transportation, security, and warfare have all drastically changed with animals integrating into human society. Since the initial movement of human society to include animals as companions and assistants, there have been very few cultures that have neglected this aspect of their development. The back bone of this cultural revolution is the Animal Trainer. An individual who spends much of his time interacting with and caring for animals to help transition them from wild animals to some of man's most trusted allies. |

Animal Trainers

Animal Trainer - Animal Trainers help to domesticate wild animals
as well as teaching animals to perform useful functions and work for their
masters.
Tools- An animal trainer needs no specific tools. Often they use make shift tools such as sticks. They commonly used the very food the animals must be feed as their tools. Animals being trained will need to be provisioned with the gear relevant for their intended purposes. Riding and war horses need saddles, bit, bridal and reigns. A work ox or draft horse must have their animal harness. Facility- A animal handler needs no particular facility to do his job. The animals will however require their normal housing as described in the Care of Animals section. ATUs - ATUs are Animal Training Units. They represent how much training an Animal Trainer can do in a month. An adept trainer for example, with 400 ATUs per month could work training two draft horses at 200 ATUs each, but no more. Stock Animal- Before an animal trainer may train an animal, there must first be the animal. The stock animal indicates which animal type is required. More information may be found in the Animal Breeding section. Note that Stock Animals are always adult animals. Required Trainer Rank- Some animals are so challenging to train, they are beyond the talents of less experienced trainers. Only trainers or sufficient ability may allocate their ATUs to training more demanding animals. ATUs per Month- Training each animal for a specific function requires an animal trainer to allocate a particular number of his ATUs in a given month. Training Duration- Most animals must be trained, exercised and conditioned over time. Most will not be completely trained in only 1 month. To fully train most animals, their ATUs per month must be allocated each month for as many months as this rating indicates. |

Like riding horses, war horses are trained to accommodate a human rider. They are additionally conditioned for strength to handle riders clad in heavy armor. They are further trained to tolerate the sights and sounds of battle around them so that they no longer instinctually flee combat. |

Guard dogs are good at raising an alarm with their bark and even attacking to frighten or incapacitate an intruder. War Dogs are trained to attack ruthlessly. Their training eliminates their natural fear of humans. Their natural instinct for skirmish fighting in packs can make them particularly deadly and they are often employed in combat. Though they follow the commands of their owner well, they can be very dangerous in close proximity to people because they are easily set off and often have the strength and determination to get loose. |
