Phases of the Turn
Each turn is one month game time and one month real time. Though both last a full month, they are not completely correlated. More on this will be discussed later. Each month long turn is broken down into four phases.
Phase 1: Due on the 1st day of the month. Players are required to submit their "Turn Submissions" by this time. The Turn Submission is a written summary of all the things the player wants his people to engage in and attempt to accomplish this month.
Phase 2: Due on the 7th day of the month. The Game Master will inform each player of random events they encounter and the early ramifications of their endeavors.
Phase 3: Due on the 14th day of the month. The player may respond to things that the Game Master has informed him are happening to his civilization. This may well include alterations to his original Turn Submission.
Phase 4: Due on the 21st day of the month. The Game Master will write the player a summary of how the turn has concluded.
Just because the GM responds to things on day 7 of the month, does not mean that things he reports on the 7th occur on the 7th day in game. Sometimes random events will happen more near the middle or the end of the month.
Example
John submits the Turn Summary on phase 1 for his little town. A third of the people are caring for children, a third are fishing and a third are engaged in various trades. On phase 2, the GM informs John that two of his fishermen have been eaten by a sea monster that seems to be living off his shores. On phase 3, John writes back to the Game Master letting him know that his fishermen will not be fishing the dangerous shore until he finds a way to deal with the sea monster. Until then, his fishermen will do their best hunting and foraging. On turn 4, the DM reports how the civilization is doing with is his fishermen trying to support their friends and families as hunters.
